Is My Home Suitable

Your home will need to fit the criteria for a number of things to be suitable for a Solar PV Install. The first and most import criteria is having a roof that is as South facing as possible. Technically your house can be East, South East, South, South West or West, obviously the more due south the roof is facing, the more suitable it is for solar PV and the more effective the panels will work for you.

The second of the criteria that you need is a roof capable of holding solar panels. The size of the roof will be paramount in the choice of size of solar PV panel install that you will be able to have installed on your property. The bigger the roof, the more panels you can have installed. As a rough guide, the average panel space required is 1 Meter by 1.6 Meters.

The angle of your roof is also important, and for South Wales an incline of around 30° will give the best results.
You generally will not need planning permission unless you have a property to which planning permission is applicable. You will need to contact your local building control to inform them of the impending install on your roof.

We will send a surveyor around to your property who will measure the roof accurately and be able to let you know what system you can have on your property, plus he will work out the Governments SAP calculation for you, giving you an idea of how much profit your system will generate over a given time.
